A Great and Terrible Beauty (The Gemma Doyle Trilogy)
Really? I haven't actually started reading it yet, but I tried the sequel, 'Rebel Angels', but I didn't want to read it in case I missed anything in the first book. I thought the start of 'Rebel Angels' was quite good. Why don't you try it, you might prefer it to the first book.
